Using Naviance

Naviance is the recommended starting point for college research, building a college list, and more. It's a powerful tool in the college process that is supported by the Cherry Creek School district and well-utilized by CCHS students. When it's time to apply to college, Naviance works with the "Common Application" platform utilized by most colleges and universities.

Following the steps below can make the college research and application process seamless.

Adding colleges to your "colleges I'm applying to" list

Select the "colleges" tab from the Family Connection homepage to research every college and university in the US and abroad. Use the "college lookup" tool to research and gather information from Naviance's extensive list of colleges and universities. The "college research" tab provides many useful college research tools. Find detailed information on any school of interest regarding admission statistics, potential majors, financial aid, and student life.

Under the "colleges" tab click on "colleges I'm applying to" you can easily add schools to your list. Every time you update your list, make sure to update your counselor so they can stay current with your college preferences. Once a school is added to your list, you can view its upcoming application deadlines. By clicking on the individual school, you can see additional data, deadlines, and contact information for admissions representatives.

Matching your Naviance and Common Application account

Under the "colleges" tab click on "colleges I'm applying to" on the main screen a blue box will appear asking to you to enter your "common app email address and birthday", then click "match".
In the Common Application, make sure you have signed your FERPA AUTHORIZATION waiver prior to matching your two accounts. Also, make sure that you add each college to your "college list" in Common App. prior to filling out your transcript request in the Post Grad Office.

Updating your application status

In Naviance, under the "colleges" tab, click on "colleges I'm applying to", then click on "Have you applied yet?". In this screen you can edit your application status by clicking on the drop down box next to results. Update your status if you have been accepted, wait listed, or denied.

Selecting your final college choice

In Naviance, under the "about me" tab on the left side of the webpage under "surveys to take" click on the graduation survey. When you fill out your survey you will need to enter the school you are attending (if you are attending college).
